Liwayway Marketing Corporation operates as a subsidiary of Liwayway Holdings Company Limited. Liwayway Marketing Corporation was established in 1946 starting its humble beginnings with repackaging of starch and coffee. The famous starch named as Liwayway Gawgaw started to advertise in magazines and radios. Liwayway got their name during the postwar era which means optimism and hope, just perfect for the innate spirit of Filipinos. Carlos Chan is the owner of Liwayway Marketing Corporation. Liwayway Marketing Corporation serves their customers a large variety of product offering through their brand Oishi. In fact, their first savory snack is widely known for the name of the brand, Oishi Prawn Crackers, that when a customer says he wants an Oishi, he particularly meant the Prawn Cracker. From then on, Oishi started to venture out to other category like Beverage, Milk, Cereals, and Cookies, Biscuit and Wafers II. Oishi, started in 1946 as Liwayway, was originally a family-owned corn starch (gawgaw) and coffee repacking business. The name of the business, "Liwayway," meaning "dawn" in Tagalog, was selected to reflect the optimism of the Philippines following the aftermath of World War II.
